Unlike traditional brands that add cordless models to their core range of fossil fuel OPE, spurred by a growing environmental consciousness, Kress has been producing exclusively electric motors for nearly a century. An icon of German engineering, it stood side by side with generations of professional users who relied on the reliability of their tools.
The story began in 1928 when Christian Kress founded a workshop for automotive electronics. Immediately after its founding, Kress began designing and manufacturing DC and AC electric motors. In the early 1960s, Kress decided to expand its production to a wider range of items. A new factory was commissioned in 1964 in Bisingen, Germany, and production of stationary workshop machines began. In 1969, Kress launched a comprehensive professional range of portable power tools.
In 1979 a new R&D center was established in Wattwil, Switzerland. The range was further expanded with a specific focus on cordless tools. Distribution was also enhanced to cover 60 countries through a network of specialized dealers.
2017 was a pivotal year in the history of the Kress brand, as it joined the international Positec group. Thanks to an injection of fresh capital and enhanced R&D capabilities, Kress went all-in into the development of cordless outdoor power equipment for commercial landscapers and demanding homeowners.
Now it is time for one more step: the end of dependence on fossil fuels.
2023 marks the last major milestone in the brand's nearly centennial history. For Kress will launch the 8-minute CyberSystem, a next-generation battery system that offers the fastest charging times in the world.
