Easily design gardens in 3D

Online garden design platform continually expanded and improved

Ease of use is paramount in the garDsign online platform, which allows gardeners to easily create comprehensive garden designs, including in 3D. For this reason, the company is continuously engaged in the further development of the platform, based in part on user feedback.

"For example, we spoke to many gardeners at the Green Sector trade show. We received a rating of 8.7 from our users. We still thought that was a bit too low a score," laughs founder Teunis van de Pol of garDsign. "We keep asking: what do you miss, what are your wishes? Based on that feedback, we are always adding things to the software." And that can be anything. Recently, for example, printer settings were adjusted. It was also ensured that certain settings are saved, so that they do not have to be added over and over again. Everything to make it as easy as possible for the user.

Luxury cars and furniture

Van de Pol: "There was also a demand for more luxurious car models among the design elements, so that, for example, a luxury Tesla or BMW could be placed in the driveway. In addition, we added models focused on the interior, such as cabinets, sofas, tables and chairs. This allows the landscaper to make the design even more personal."

With the garDsign platform, the landscaper can easily visualize his garden design for the customer. He can also import plot data from an aerial photo, which reduces the amount of measuring work. Because the design is easy to modify and the link is shared directly with the customer, the landscaper can do business faster. From his background in the landscaping profession, Van de Pol designed the tool to fit practical needs.

GarDsign is growing steadily and wants to grow even more. "But gardeners are already busy, so they don't want to be faced with big changes. That's why we work closely with them, so we can act immediately if we modify something that has an undesirable effect for the user."

Continually engaging with users

The drawing tool is also adapted as much as possible to what is common in other software, such as the shortcut key combinations control-c (copy) and control-v (paste). Van de Pol: "We also added the setting that you could delete elements with backspace. In practice, this turned out not to be useful: if the user wanted to delete a text, the element was also gone. That was not the intention and we then find a solution for that. We want to offer the whole process as simple and user-friendly as possible."

Designing in 2D is also possible.

The company actively encourages users to provide feedback. A video also appears every month explaining what has been added to the system and online workshops are organized. And if a user runs into a problem, a call is scheduled to find out why. "We then also feedback what we think we can do with this information and when we can implement it. Sometimes within an hour, other things take more time." In this way, garDsign remains constantly evolving. The trade fair produced a group of new users, who look at the software with a different perspective. Again, good feedback comes from that.
