Family company Koers from Hoogersmilde has long been the specialist in the field of semi-paving. For this purpose, it has an in-house developed computer-controlled mixing plant. This enables them to produce clean, environmentally friendly and high-quality semisurfacing with an extremely low MKI value.
These Koersmix semi-paved surfaces are very stable and low-maintenance, have a natural appearance, a self-healing ability and an excellent water- and air-permeable function. Municipalities, contractors, water boards and other institutions such as the Forestry Commission, nature preserves and landscape managers like to use the Koer mixes. The same applies to an increasing number of gardeners, holiday parks, camping sites and cemeteries.
Jakob Baar, account manager North and Central Netherlands at Koers, explains why their bound semi-paved products offer a multitude of advantages: "The most important thing, of course, is a user-friendly and comfortable infrastructure for walkers, cyclists and the disabled. You actually catch four birds with one stone with our unique products, also in terms of environmental friendliness. The water buffering function ensures that trees and plants are given the opportunity to grow in places where they would not normally be able to. In addition, our semi-paving helps combat heat stress through its positive effect on the ambient temperature. The product is also capable of draining rainwater, which is ideal now that we are more often dealing with prolonged rain and huge downpours. And thanks to our sustainable production methods and its recyclable nature, it also helps reduce CO2 emissions."
Koersmix is the umbrella name for the semisurfacing products that the company has developed in its own Research&Development department and has now been producing for more than 30 years. Under the Koersmix banner are DurEko-mix®, KoMex®, KoTRec and Hydraulic Sand. Each mix has its own unique properties and color variations. The Koersmixes also have a "bio variant. This uses a biopolymer as binding agent, which results in an even more load-bearing and durable product. Koers has launched the extra permeable KoMex EWD especially for tree pits.
"Because each Heading Mix has its own properties and characteristics, we can offer the right solution for almost any situation. You always have to look carefully at what the on-site situation is and offer the best suited Heading mix for that. So what are the requirements for the semi-paving and what fits best in the environment? Sometimes permeability is the most important argument and sometimes maintenance and durability. Fortunately, we also have a solution for both these extremes," says Baar.
