The 25th edition of the GaLaBau in Nuremberg, Germany, is all about innovation and sustainability. One of the main topics at this year's fair is "Working together for a climate-friendly future," says marketing director Heike Assmus. From September 11 to 14, 2024, visitors can learn about innovations and solutions from pioneers in the sector on a green-blue route.
Visitors to GaLaBau can look forward to a wide range of new and emerging technologies and innovations. In various product groups, you will find information on trends such as energy efficiency, environmentally friendly and recyclable materials, and responsible water use. Machinery-specific solutions with low emissions, low noise and high battery quality can be found.
The large outdoor area offers plenty of space for demonstrations, for example of e-mobility. Here exhibitors present live their new construction and maintenance machines and municipal vehicles with electric motors.
GaLaBau supports sustainability and environmentally friendly solutions within the green and landscape sector. Those visitors will find on the green-blue path, the "Green-Blue Path. The participants on this path have been selected by a jury and will receive extra attention at the fair. Assmus says: "We notice that sustainability is an important theme that sometimes still needs to find its way into the daily work of green professionals. We show them how they can incorporate it into their operations and how they can use it to increase their turnover. Above all: how they can deal with the climate changes we are already experiencing."
An important new element this edition is the opportunity to walk the "Green-Blue Path," the green-blue route, with a guide. There will be two to three guided tours every day, also in English. "We are doing this in cooperation with a technical college from Osnabrück," says Assmus. "In this way, we hope to connect exhibitors and visitors even better and put an extra spotlight on innovation and inspiration."
In hall 3C you will find everything around innovation, including the special exhibition 'A practical guide to digitization', stands of young innovators and information about the winners of the 'Innovation Medal'. Assmus: "Think, for example, of TreeSense, which is developing sensors for trees with which drought stress can be detected early. Or heygrün, which shows the latest in green roofs."
The comprehensive program with all sessions and speakers will be published on the GaLaBau website by the end of June 2024. These include Landscape Talks, organized by two German publishers, with a focus on playgrounds, parks and public spaces. BGL is organizing the GaLaBau Expert Talks, aimed at construction companies.
"In the forum 'A Practical Guide to Digitization,' trade show visitors will find practical knowledge on how to digitally improve their processes and services. They learn how to create more order and thus become more competitive. As a visitor, learn about digitalization through power interviews, personal exchanges and at trade fair booths with digitalization experts and trade colleagues," Assmus says.
At GaLaBau 2024, everyone from the entire value chain for planning, construction and maintenance of green and public spaces can meet. Last year the fair attracted some 61,000 visitors; this year they hope to top 65,000. With over 1,000 exhibitors, GaLaBau's diversity is a great strength for exhibitors and visitors.
The audience includes planners, architects, specialty green and public space construction companies, gardeners and students. "As one of the largest European fairs, we connect an international audience," says Assmus. This perfect combination of young and old, experience and study, theory and practice makes GaLaBau a place where innovations and trends are discovered, you enter into direct conversation with suppliers and find solutions together. Definitely worthwhile, in other words!"
