Pool equipment distributor CF group supplies the VITII biological system for cleaning pools without chemicals. The system is suitable for all pools and offers numerous advantages: it is not harmful to the environment, the water no longer needs to be changed and the system can be controlled with an app.
Most pools and spas use disinfectants that sterilize the water but are harmful to the body. Also, these agents can corrode pool components. The VITII system successively applies three types of filtration: mechanical, bacterial and UV. At the same time, it provides mineral rebalancing. "Nothing else changes about the pool, skimmers and the like work as usual. The difference is purely in the filter. I think we are the only one with a complete system that does not require adding chemicals to the water. Several pool builders do offer biopools, but they still use chlorine," says VITII sales manager Erik Laenen.
In 2011, VITII's predecessor, Lotus, was introduced for swimming ponds. Since then, the system has matured and proven itself. In France and Belgium, it is even used in public swimming pools. Filip Vandervelde, sales account manager Belgium at CF group: "We notice that there is also increasing interest in natural systems from private individuals. People are more open to this now than in the past. There is a turnaround in that respect."
France now levies taxes on the disposal of wastewater from swimming pools. This is because water treatment plants have to add more and more bacteria to clean the water. Laenen: "We expect other countries to introduce this tax eventually. Owners of swimming pools using our system do not have to pay this tax. Even better: they can simply use this water for watering the garden."
The purchase price of the VITII system is slightly higher than that of traditional systems, but it is actually cheaper in the long run. Almost no agents need to be added to the water, other than bacteria, and fewer backwashes are needed, which saves on water consumption. "The system is pre-assembled and therefore easy and quick to install. And even though this is a biological system, it allows the water to be heated up to 32°C. So VITII is not only good for the environment, but also for people."
The system is easily controlled through the accompanying app. By testing the water every month with a test strip and entering the results into the app, the system adjusts and the user receives notifications about the water quality. In addition, backwashes, for example, are performed automatically.
