Frisian Motors is taking advantage of the GroenTechniek Holland trade fair to present its electric vehicles to a broad target group. The manufacturer is also coming up with a new introduction. 'The demand for electric vehicles is increasing.'
Frisian has been building electric vehicles for the construction and green sector, among others, under the Leffert brand name since 2010. With a configurator, customers can put together their own vehicle as desired. In recent years, the company has grown into a business with 29 sales points in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Account manager Stefan Stokebrook: "We are growing nicely and have seen a lot of demand for electric vehicles, especially in recent years. Also because tenders increasingly demand work without local emissions."
Frisian Motors has the parts of the vehicles produced elsewhere and assembles them itself in its own workshop in Bakkeveen, Friesland. The company supplies six basic models, which can be used for many applications, for example by landscape managers and gardeners. Differences between the models are mainly in 2WD, 4WD and two- or four-seater. Stokebrook: "The basic vehicle is equipped with license plate, lights, roof and windshield. The rest of the vehicle can be customized as desired. Does a customer want an option that is not standard? Then we customize it for him. From off-road tires to rebuilding the entire chassis to accommodate a longer cargo box. Sometimes such a custom option is then included in the standard range."
At the GroenTechniek Holland trade fair, Frisian will show all models. In addition, the company will present a new introduction. Stokebrook has high hopes for the fair, which will give the company the opportunity to engage in conversation with a broad target group. "We are coming with a new product, this will be announced in a big way soon and will be on display at the fair."
Frisian Motors expanded production some time ago with an additional workshop. As a result, production went up and delivery time went down. The expansion of the workshop also contributed to the further development of the electric vehicles. Whereas previously all models received an AGM lead battery as standard, these are now lithium batteries (except for the FM-40). These have many advantages over lead-acid batteries. For example, they are much lighter, have three to four times longer life and can be charged faster. And lead batteries still had to be charged until they were full, which is no longer necessary with lithium batteries. The user can safely put these batteries on the charger for an hour or so between uses when not driving.
