Makita seizes the GroenTechniek Holland trade fair to show a wide range of machines to a broad target group. The emphasis is on the possibilities of the XGT battery platform, on which some two hundred machines are now running. 'We will definitely talk to end users.'
"We are going to demonstrate a lot of machines at the show," says Arjen Peeters, Supervisor OPE & Business Development at Makita. "Also to show the quality of our unique XGT platform. We develop the brushless motors for our machines ourselves. In doing so, the controllers are programmed separately for each application to perform optimally. At the show, we will pay attention, among other things, to our combi system, which is broadly applicable with sixteen applications. Recently we expanded it with the hoe. This is a unique tool that really makes a hoeing movement. In addition, the system features anti-vibration technology that drastically reduces vibrations. The end user can work with it for a whole day from an occupational health and safety perspective. So we get great feedback from the market."
Makita introduced a new line of 40V cut-off saws this summer. With the CE003GZ02 a single 40 V Max 230 mm cutter with a maximum cutting depth of 88 mm and the CE004GZ a single 40 V Max 305 mm cutter with a maximum cutting depth of 12.1 mm, the line is nearly complete. These grinders excel in weight, maneuverability and performance, making them suitable for the everyday job.
Makita's first robotic mower, RMD350D, will also be on display at the show. It was introduced Europe-wide in March. The mower is fully waterproof and features Makita's well-known charging and battery technology. "We want to offer the customer a beautiful and perfect lawn. Therefore, we developed a user-friendly and reliable robotic mower with boundary wire. Thus, the buyer is always assured of a beautiful and well-groomed lawn."
The robotic mower has a built-in 18V battery (BL1850V) from Makita. By optimizing the charging and discharging process, the mower can operate for an average of two hours and fifteen minutes after a forty-minute charge. The machine is suitable for maintenance of lawns up to 3,500 m2. The robotic mower is equipped with three new very powerful brushless motors made in-house: two wheel motors and a blade motor. It also includes a motor for height adjustment. Peeters: "The mower has good bearings and is fully equipped. It also has the necessary safety features, such as a PIN code alarm, impact and tilt sensors. In addition, the machine has a clear screen and control panel. It is easy to set up and works without an app. So a very complete robotic mower."
Finally, Makita's booth emphasizes the interchangeability of the XGT battery platform. The end user can use the batteries not only for garden machines, but also for power tools. So the gardener can also assemble fences and garden sheds with the same battery. Peeters: "We are also focusing on sustainability and the high, technical quality of the XGT platform. We listen carefully to the wishes of the end user, because after all, they work with it every day. At trade fairs, too, we will definitely engage with end users."
